Troy Brosnan

My first season overseas with the MONSTER ENERGY/ SPECIALIZED team could not have gone any better. It was so easy getting from country to country and practicing with Sam and Brendan two of the fastest riders in the world just gave me so much confidence.

Troy piloted his Demo 8 to some very impressive wins in 2010, including a Jr. World Championship as well as the Overall Junior World Cup title.

The Big Crash

June 21, 2012

I had just left So Cal to hit off the next world cups in Europe. There was a IXS Cup race on, and would be held on the exact same track for worlds this year in Leogang, Austria. The team and I arrived with a new paint job on the big RV and it was actually sunny in Europe for once! First day of practice went well just finding lines and I felt really strong! I was super excited to be racing again after the massive break from the first World Cup. Second day with qualifying was going good I had my lines dialed and was getting faster and faster each run.

Unfortunately on one of my practice runs before Qualifying I scrubbed one of the jumps up the top, and my back tyre slid off of the lip sending me sideways and I couldn't get it back high-siding straight on to my chest with my left arm stuck underneath me. With heaps of adrenaline still pumping through I tried to crawl off to the side of the track and noticed I dislocated my right shoulder, but it fell back into place pretty easy. After getting my breath back I rolled down the track to the pits and took a seat. A couple of hours later I still wasn't feeling very good at all with hot and cold flushes through my body and my stomach was really hurting and shooting pains going up into my left shoulder.

Sean and I went to the hospital to check it out and it turned out that I had ruptured my spleen really badly and had to stay in hospital flat on my back for two weeks and watch the next two World Cups slip away whilst I was in hospital. My mum ended up coming over to help me fly home safely.

I'm back at home right now and just resting not being allowed to do any physical exercise at all just sitting on the couch. My main goal from here is to try and ride a couple of weeks before Worlds and go back to that track and destroy 'it' this time!

I have had heaps of support form all my Sponsors and also a lot from fans, so thank you so much and ill get back on my bike as soon as possible!
