Nationals, World cups, BMX and Trans Rockies

July 5, 2012

Just came off the bulk of the racing season and now looking forward to some rest and blog updating. Last couple races didn’t go as well as I had hoped and maybe that’s why I won’t write too much about them today. Started off with Canadian National championships (Link to other blog) in St.Felicien, Quebec about mid-June. I was excited and focused to go for the jersey but a flat on the second lap spoiled my chances. Continued on to Mont Sainte-Anne, Quebec and then Windham Mt. USA for the 5th and 6th

rounds of the WC circuit. Both didn’t go super well, probably wanted to cut my finishing place in half of what they were (32 and 29 respectively). Not sure why I wasn’t where I should be, maybe the small leg injury I had which “altered” training plans or the fact that I’m now getting checked out for exercise induced asthma. But racing has its ups and downs; I started the year

strong and just need to find that happy place again.

On to the future… about to sign up

for Trans Rockies, the optional three to seven day event from Fernie BC to Canmore AB, specifically the 3 day one exclusively in Fernie. Going to be my first MTB stage race and should be good prep for worlds. But just before that I’m going to live up the cottage life in Ottawa and race a Quebec Cup plus a Sunset series event, a Tommy & Lefebvre bike shop series. Throw in the Mt.Morris US Cup and that’s the mountain bike season, cross is right around the corner. Also about to get a BMX bike, cool.

For more frequent updates visit my other blog at www.evanmcneely.blogspot.com! Posts are a little less formal; most entries are just thoughts off the top of my head written down with an edit. Often my true engineering side comes out with poor grammar and spelling made clear with a complete hatred of writing full sentences. Most of the racing action is over but some exciting stuff is just about begin.
