Fabrizio Macchi

Fabrizio Macchi is a two-time Paralympic World Time Trial Champion and a multi-time Paralympic medalist in a variety of disciplines.

The friendly Italian rider has twice competed in the Paralympic Games — in Sydney in 2000 and in Athens in 2004, where he won the bronze medal in the pursuit. This year, he is looking forward to competing in his third Paralympic Games in London.

Macchi joined Specialized in June 2011, and has enjoyed the benefits of a BG Fit to optimize his power and comfort on the bike.

Macchi first began to have problems in his left knee at age 13, and was later diagnosed with cancer. Three years later, after 17 operations and 20 cycles of chemotherapy, Macchi and his doctors decided to amputate his leg. Since then, he has refused to give up on his athletic goals, and he continues to be an inspiration to those around him.
