The 2012 season was one of the best ever for the rider who symbolizes the cobbled classics. Tornado Tom took no less than 14 victories, including the obvious high mark at the Ronde van Vlaanderen — which he won for the third time on an all-new route — and his fourth success in Paris-Roubaix. Consistency was the Belgian champion's secret weapon. He started winning in January in Argentina and finished off in September by helping the team clinch the World Championship TTT, a success that Tom defines as "one of the most exciting in my career." For Tom, 2013 could be another record-breaking year. A fourth victory at the Ronde or a fifth win in Roubaix would make him the rider with the most wins ever in these hugely popular races, and he would be able to rightly claim a place among the cycling legends. "I will face these races with the same serenity and determination as always," says Tom. "If victory should be mine, great — if not, it won't be that big a deal. During the season there will also be other targets to aim for. What's important is to remain a major player and not have any regrets after crossing the finish line."
