The Specialized KYNKYNY Cycling Team (SKCT) was launched in 2012 with the aim of developing the professional cycling scene in India, and giving the country’s top cycling talent a chance to show the world what they can do. Racking up 15 victories and 42 podiums from 30 races in 2012, our first year didn’t turn out too bad, and we’re aiming even higher for 2013!

After a few years of operating at a sub-grassroots level with very limited means, we caught the eye of Specialized in late 2011. The company immediately recognized our potential, and within a couple of months we joined forces to start a developmental program that would be at the forefront of the sport’s Indian evolution.

The result was India’s first fully sponsored team, financially supported by the companies of various passionate entrepreneurs, and the kind contributions of well-wishing individuals. Joining the Specialized family has not only given us access to the very best equipment in the world, but also the benefits of Body Geometry Fit technology, and the backing of a company that lives and breathes racing.

Cycling in India is still in its infancy, but SKCT is out to prove that with enough passion and drive, neither crazy traffic, nor crazy crowds, nor crazy cows (yeah, you’ve heard right!), need be an obstacle to cycling success.

This year’s roster features 9 Indian riders, aged 21 to 30, with a balance of youth and experience. Also, new this year is the spot for a 10th guest rider to train and race as part of the team at International events.

It has been a marvelous and inspiring journey building this team from the ground up. Bringing Indian riders to the international stage is our mission, and it’s a big one at that.
