Team Specialized/Sho-Air

For 2012, Team Sho-Air/Specialized will offer a diverse roster of athlete’s to focus on multiple mountain bike racing disciplines.

The team will be anchored by Monique “Pua” Mata, current women’s Pro US Marathon, US 24 Hour solo and Pro UET series national champion. Mata also took 8th at World Marathon Championships in Italy, making her North America’s top female finisher. With big wins at the Whiskey 50, Fire Cracker 50 and a third at Leadville 100, Pua has risen to become one of North America’s top endurance female racers.

New to the roster is U23 cross country rider Brendon Davids out of South Africa. Davids who is mentored by non-other than Burry Stander, will look to make a splash on the Pro XCT National series in 2012. Brendon was the first South African Junior ever to hold the #1 spot atop the UCI rankings in 2011, and also took home the African Continental Championship in the junior division.

Motorsport athlete’s Ben and Eric Bostrom will also return to the roster for 2012. The Boz. Bros. will split time between their AMA Superbike gig, and smashing the pedals at endurance and cross country events across the nation. Ben Bostrom is no slouch either, having won the 6 hours of Mellow Johnny’s and capturing the 2009 Master men’s La Ruta Championship. Younger brother Eric gets his first full season of racing under his belt this year, and looks to raise his game.

Sho-Air/Specialized also welcomes back U-18 development rider Cody Phillips for 2012. Phillips will focus on capturing the So. Cal High School league series title for a second straight year.

Ty Kady also returns to an abbreviated racing schedule for 2012. Kady won all three US Master National mountain bike titles in 2011, including Cross-Country, Short Track and Marathon disciplines. The five-time Sea Otter and California State Cross-Country champion will campaign the CAT 1 35-39 division, while taking on team manager duties for the squad.
