Long time no blogOctober 21, 2010
Long time no blog, but after returning from Worlds where I didn’t get the result I wanted, but I did do the best on race day with what I had, so I wasn’t too disappointed with that. So I took a small break and went straight back to full training preparing for the South African triathlon season, the past month also didn’t go as planned, I keep on getting better and stronger in training, but I still can’t seem to get it up there in the races. I’ve done 2 of 7 series races so far and this weekend I’m going for the 3rd one, very little rest as we race weekend after weekend. I’m all happy with the swim, though I swam to the wrong buoy this past weekend while racing in my home town and had to swim all the way back and still made the front pack (never follow someone and think you don’t have to look up to see where the buoys are), but I nearly couldn’t breathe in transition-man it was hard. The bike in SA races is relatively slow, don’t know what the boys in SA are doing, someone needs to do something and put on the pace. But that’s no problem when it comes to the run, you’re not even out of T2 and all of them are just flying away. I’m flying with them, but its hard keeping up, I always try my best though! I’m a patient man and know I will beat these guys soon. Though this isn’t the best season of my short career, with many setbacks, though and stressful times, I’m still trying to make the best of it all... But I know I’m ready to cope with some harder racing awaiting me this coming 2 months, great teammates, support, training partners and friends. And after that….I’ll be on a 3 week break camping in the African bush next to a river somewhere in Namibia without goggles, bike and run shoes.
