I grew up in West london and did every sport available to me at school. Hounslow Borough Swimming squad was my local swim club and it was after (legend in the making) Spencer Smith went and won the World Junior Champs in 1992 that I first had a go at triathlon myself.
In my last year as a Junior I won the World Juniors (1998) and in 2006, Lausanne became my favourite city in the world because I also won the senior World Champs there that year. I also managed to win World Duathlon (2002) and World Aquathlon (2005) titles and was runner up at the inaugural World Sprint Champs in 2010.
Having been to three amazing Olympic Games (Sydney 10th, Athens 18th and Beijing DNF) I’m determined to race in my home town in 2012 and be in the mix for a medal.
