Whole Athlete Cycling Team
The Whole Athlete / Specialized Cycling Team is a national-level Junior and U-23 development program comprised of promising and dedicated young athletes. Drawing on the holistic philosophy and training methods of the Whole Athlete Performance Center, the young riders receive mentoring and coaching in the form of team training rides, individualized training programs and training-related services including performance testing, professional bike fitting, nutritional guidance, yoga instruction, and training & race camps.
Continuing on their hugely successful partnership in 2010-2012, Whole Athlete and Specialized will continue in 2013 looking to perform on both the National and World stage. The team will focus on the US ProXCT Series, Junior XC World Cups and US Nationals, contesting a range of events from the Sea Otter Classic to the Junior XC World Championships.
With riders ranging from current Junior 15-16 MTB XC National Champion Marcus Segedin, to World Cup winner Kate Courtney, to U23 standout Zach Valdez, the squad is a blend of future stars and proven talent. The team is directed by Whole Athlete founder Dario Fredrick, himself the current 4x MTB 40-44 XC National Champion, and receives essential support from presenting sponsor Specialized Bicycle Components, as well as a number of key sponsors including the Velo Development Foundation, Marin Cyclists, SRAM, DNA Cycling, GU Energy, Marin Natural Medicine Clinic, ProBar, Oakley, Tam Bikes, Rock Tape, Elemental Herbs, Genuine Innovations, LaMarch Sports Chiropractic, RestWise, and Bungalow Munch Organic Granola.
